When the franchise first started, there were only 151 Pokemon and one region. Pokemon Red and Blue were the first games of the series to be released in the United States. They came out in 1996 for the Nintendo Game Boy and have built more and more fans over the last 27 years through more video games, anime shows, and a trading card game. Some of these were so popular they had to be banned from schools for causing too many issues by being a distraction.

The latest games, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, were released on the Nintendo Switch on November 18, 2022. Although Pokemon Scarlet and Violet had been review bombed by some players due to performance issues, others seem to still enjoy the title. Not only is this duo title making history by finally bringing the total to 1008 Pokemon, but it also is the first time The Pokemon Company aimed for a true open-world experience for fans of the series.

Now it has grown to a total of nine regions throughout the games. These regions started with Kanto and have since added Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola, Galar, and most recently, Paldea. With new Pokemon came new type combinations with 18 total types to mix and match, some of these making the best type combinations in the Pokemon series. It also meant new designs to give off specific characteristics of the regions the creatures call home, and new favorites for fans to catch, battle, and love.

There have been hints at DLC to come in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and some are hoping this means perhaps more creatures will be added to the games. So far, Game Freak has not yet added any DLC to the base game. Further, there is no official tease or information on any additional news being announced in this video. All that is certain is it will display some gameplay of various battles and other encounter types with all Pokemon.
