Political disaster. Even hawkish Dems may be labeled wimps. If troops clean up, so does Bush.
Ironically, the Dems’ best hope lies with a calamitous war effort, which would ruin Bush. Still, they could be accused of aiding Saddam by sending mixed signals before shooting began.
